Gary's passion for birds began over 35 years ago, starting with a simple spyglass to watch birds outside his apartment window. This interest evolved throughout the years as he set up traditional feeders at each home. During the pandemic, his discovery of live bird feeder webcams rekindled his enthusiasm, leading to his first Birdfy feeder—a thoughtful gift from his daughter. Since then, he loves going through the videos and still images on the Birdfy app to create presentations to share on the Birdfy Community Facebook page, where he has become one of our moderators who continues to share his enthusiasm.
Now, Gary's collection has expanded impressively to include a Birdfy Feeder 1, Birdfy Feeder Bamboo, Bamboo Mini, Birdfy Feeder 2 Duo, and multiple stand-alone cameras. He also gifted a Birdfy feeder to his brother in Virginia, allowing them to share their birdwatching experiences through the Birdfy app despite the distance.
Beyond his birdwatching passion, Gary brings a lifetime of creativity and community service to everything he does. After a 30-year career as "Uncle Vito" at Albany's PYX106 radio station and a memorable stint as "Ranger Danger" on FOX23, he continues to make a difference. His leadership as President of his local Senior Center and his fundraising initiatives demonstrate his commitment to community wellbeing.
At home, Gary shares his life with two rescued pets—Jack, a 24-year-old Quaker parrot, and Wrigley, a 9-year-old Yorkshire terrier—lovely animal friends that everyone will adore.
With the Birdfy Feeder Metal and Birdfy Nest on his wishlist, Gary's birdwatching journey continues to evolve. Thank you, Gary, for your creativity, dedication, and for inspiring the entire Birdfy community!
