Birdfy DIY Challenge Contest Rules and Copyright Agreement

 

Please read these rules carefully. By participating in this challenge, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with all the following terms and conditions. 

SECTION 1 - CONTEST OVERVIEW AND ELIGIBILITY

Imagine what your bird feeder would look like if it could perfectly reflect your personal style and creative ideas.As we releases free 3D files for some of our products, we are simultaneously launching our first Birdfy DIY Challenge, inviting creators from around the world to join us in designing the future of smart birdwatching!

Contest Purpose: Through this challenge, we aim to inspire creators worldwide to combine technology and creativity in ways that continuously care for birds and improve the relationship between humans and nature. Whether you own Birdfy products or traditional bird-watching products, you can participate in creative design. From 3D printed accessories to handmade decorations, from functional extensions to aesthetic transformations - unleash your creativity to create a unique paradise for birds, bringing them a safer and more comfortable habitat experience while adding more natural beauty and joy of exploration to your backyard birdwatching life. Co-create with nature and explore more facets of life - starting with participating in the Birdfy DIY Challenge!

About the Birdfy DIY Community: Birdfy upholds the philosophy of "Sharing the Joy of Birdwatching" and is committed to building a creative community that brings together bird enthusiasts, makers, and nature conservationists. We embrace the principles of openness, sharing, and collaboration, encouraging users to create their own birdwatching equipment. Whether you're a tech enthusiast, craft lover, nature observer, or simply someone who enjoys creating, you are welcome here. We open our design files, encourage sharing and co-creation, and hope you can also create your own "The Bird Side of Life" story here.

Participation Methods:
Channel 1: Birdfy Official Website Submission Path: Visit Birdfy.com → Birdfy Explore → Birdfy DIY → Submit Now Then upload your work photos and complete the information
Channel 2: Social Media Participation
  1. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X platforms: Step 1: Post photos or videos of your DIY work Step 2: Tag Birdfy official account @birdfybynetvue Step 3: Use hashtags: #birdfydiy #birdfydiychallenge Step 4: Briefly describe your design concept and inspiration
  2. Reddit platform: Post your work in r/Birdfy, include #birdfydiychallenge in the title, and briefly describe your design concept and inspiration

Eligibility Requirements:
  1. Age Requirement: Individuals aged 18 or older (or those under 18 with guardian consent and submission on their behalf)
  2. Geographic Region: Primarily North America and Europe, excluding Africa, South America, Switzerland, and certain U.S. regions (Alaska, Guam, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Armed Forces Americas, Armed Forces Europe, Armed Forces Pacific, Virgin Islands)
  3. Pre-display Work Notice: Our Birdfy DIY page banner, Birdfy DIY gallery, and social media case collages will initially showcase DIY works shared by Facebook group and other channel users to help everyone understand the types of works eligible for the contest. The creators of these works still retain full participation rights.
  4. Contest Timeline (PDT): Contest Period: September 12, 2025 - October 11, 2025 (PDT) Judging Period: October 13-16, 2025 (PDT) Results Announcement: October 17, 2025 (PDT)

SECTION 2 - ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND SUBMISSION STANDARDS
Eligible Product Range:

  1. Birdfy Products: All Birdfy products are eligible for modification
  2. Traditional Birdwatching Products: Any traditional birdwatching products (without cameras) are eligible

DIY Forms: Including but not limited to 3D printing, laser cutting, woodworking, handicrafts, painting, and any other DIY forms.

Design Principles:
  1. Safety: Must be safe and harmless to birds, other wildlife, and humans. For material selection, we recommend PETG/ASA for outdoor use, PLA only for indoor applications, and avoid using any toxic materials. For design safety, please ensure all sharp edges and corners are removed, avoid designing small parts that birds might swallow, and prevent dangerous structures that could cause bird entanglement.
  2. Originality: Please ensure that your uploaded work is your original design. Do not print model files from other websites and pass them off as your own work. Plagiarism, infringement of third-party intellectual property, or using AI-generated works to impersonate handmade creations are prohibited. For non-original works, we will disqualify participants upon receiving relevant complaints.

Work Eligibility Requirements:
Contest entries must demonstrate creative labor, aesthetic improvement, or functional innovation. Simple replacements of camera products in smart bird feeders or minor modifications that do not alter the core design will generally not be considered as qualifying DIY creations meeting contest standards, and we will not display them in the voting gallery. Non-qualifying works include but are not limited to:
  1. Simple Replacements: Merely replacing original components (such as cameras, screws) with standard parts or original parts from other brands, without any creative redesign of appearance, structure, or functionality.
  2. Non-innovative Assembly: Simply assembling commercially available finished accessories without any customized processing, modification, or integrated design.
  3. Model Printing Services: Directly downloading and printing model files designed by others without any personalized modifications, optimizations, or re-creation.
Submission Requirements:
  1. Submission Method: Click "Submit Now" on the Birdfy DIY page for online submission. When "Submission Successful" appears, it indicates successful submission.
  2. Work Photos: Upload high-quality photos from multiple angles to help you gain more likes. Landscape photos (4:3) or portrait photos (3:4), JPG/JPEG or PNG files only. Minimum 1200px on the shorter side, ≤5MB per file.
  3. Work Description: Explain design concept, functionality, recommended materials and processes, unique selling points, bird safety considerations, etc.
  4. Product Selection Instructions: When participating, please select the Birdfy product model you modified; if participating with traditional bird-watching products, please select "Other" and specify the exact product name and brand in the text box.
  5. Submission Frequency Rules: Users may submit multiple different works, but all materials for each submission must belong to the same work project; works unrelated to the contest theme will not be displayed in the exhibition area.

Complete Guide to Winning: Want to increase your chances of winning? Here are practical suggestions for boosting your work's popularity:
  1. Tell Stories Visually: Take clear, multi-angle photos of your work. Detail shots in natural light best showcase the texture and craftsmanship of your work.
  2. Tell the Story Behind Your Creation: Add descriptive titles and detailed descriptions to your work, share your inspiration sources, creation process, materials/techniques used, and how it adds fun to the birdwatching experience.
  3. Create Attractive, Interesting, or Useful Works: Think about how to make your work appeal to others - whether through practical functionality, unique aesthetics, or humorous creativity. We welcome all types of creations: sophisticated 3D printed accessories, unique handmade works, artistic paintings, or creative decorative designs. Originality and creativity are key!
  4. Share Your Creation Link: Share your work link with friends, family, and relevant communities. Encourage them to vote and like your work (remind them they can support daily!), and let more people see your work.

Work Display and Statistics For the official website participation channel, we update user works to the Birdfy DIY Gallery section of the page every 48 hours. For social media participation channels, we compile contest posts from all channels every Wednesday and consolidate them in this Google document: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1I2nKnu9KQEn_dP_IKgOCdyUKApYKm4eUMiG5E_B2Tg4/edit?gid=0#gid=0 If you don't see your post link after the statistical cycle, please contact our email. The latest statistical data from the previous week will be published every Wednesday until the end of the activity.
Works that do not comply with the Entry Requirements will not be displayed in the gallery section.

SECTION 3 - JUDGING CRITERIA AND PRIZE DETAILS

Judging Criteria: Whether participating through official website submission or social media posting, we select winning works based on actual vote counts and like counts. Official website channels are calculated by vote count, social media channels by like count. Official website voting rules allow one vote per email address per day, with duplicate votes being invalid. *Note: The Honor Award does not apply to the above judging criteria; this award is selected by the Birdfy team.

Prize Details: This contest features rich awards, including:
  • Gold Prize (1 winner): Birdfy Bath Pro with Stand (AI Lifetime) plus $300 cash reward
  • Silver Prize (2 winners): Birdfy Feeder Set plus $200 cash reward
  • Bronze Prize (3 winners): Birdfy Feeder Rookies plus $100 cash reward
  • Honor Award (10 winners): $50 gift card
  • All participants receive a 15% discount coupon as a participation award. The coupon will be sent to your submission email within 10 business days after submission (social media channel participants will receive it within 10 business days after we obtain email information)
  • Additional surprise prizes will be announced after the event!

Prize Collection:
  1. Birdfy will carefully collect all contest entries and select all winners based on vote counts/like counts.
  2. The winner list will be announced on October 17 (PDT) on our event page and official social media accounts.
  3. We will send winning information to the email address winners used to submit their works. This email will include instructions on how to claim prizes. If winners fail to respond within 30 days of receiving notification, they will be considered to have forfeited their claim. Please watch for emails from partner@Birdfy.com.

SECTION 4 - VIOLATIONS AND DISQUALIFICATION

Violation Definition: Plagiarism, intellectual property infringement, submitting unsafe works, providing false contest information, using AI-generated works to impersonate handmade creations, malicious vote manipulation, violating laws and regulations, etc.

Handling Method: Once discovered, participation eligibility will be immediately revoked, awarded prizes will be reclaimed, and we reserve the right to pursue legal responsibility.

SECTION 5 - Birdfy PLATFORM AND OFFICIAL ASSET INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION

Platform Ownership: This service is owned and operated by Birdfy. The platform's technical architecture, functional modules, user interface, database systems, algorithmic logic, compiled code, data processing workflows, and service operation systems (collectively "Platform Technical Assets," excluding user content) are protected by intellectual property and other laws. All Platform Technical Assets are property of Birdfy.

Content Copyright Protection: All content assets on this website, including dimensional drawings of Birdfy smart bird feeder products, interface information, official 3D model files, logos, brand visual elements, product images, documentation, video tutorials, text, audio, and other creative content (collectively "Birdfy Official Assets") are protected by applicable copyright laws and other intellectual property laws, with copyright belonging to Birdfy.

Limited License to Participants: Birdfy grants participants only a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, royalty-free license for the following:
  1. Purpose: Limited to participating in this "Birdfy DIY Challenge" activity for personal learning, design, creation, and modification of contest entries
  2. Scope: Participants may use and modify Birdfy Official Assets to create derivative works compatible with Birdfy products
Important Notice: The complete model files provided are for reference only for the design of the entries and shall not be used for commercial purposes, personal manufacturing or other non-competition purposes.

Prohibited Activities:
  1. Platform Abuse: You may not use any "deep linking," "page scraping," "robots," "spiders," or other automated devices, programs, algorithms, or methods, or through any artificial intelligence services or similar or equivalent manual processes, to access, acquire, copy, exploit, or monitor any part of this website or any content, or in any way replicate or circumvent the navigation structure or presentation of this website or any content
  2. Commercial Use: Strictly prohibited from using Birdfy Official Assets for any commercial purposes (including but not limited to sales, licensing, distribution, or any form of profit-making activities) unless separately authorized in writing by Birdfy
  3. Harmful Use: Strictly prohibited from using Birdfy Official Assets or their derivatives for any illegal, unethical, or activities that damage Birdfy's brand image
  4. Reverse Engineering: Strictly prohibited from reverse engineering Birdfy Official Assets or attempting to obtain their core design patents

Attribution and Declaration: When participants publicly display derivative works created based on Birdfy Official Assets, they must clearly indicate "Work created based on Birdfy Official Assets" or similar declaration.

Disclaimer and Rights Reservation:
  1. Birdfy provides Official Assets solely for participant convenience and does not guarantee their completeness, accuracy, or suitability for all design purposes. Birdfy is not responsible for any losses arising from the use of these assets.
  2. We reserve the right to pursue legal action for any violations of this declaration.

SECTION 6 - INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND USAGE AUTHORIZATION OF CONTEST ENTRIES

Intellectual Property Attribution:
  1. Participants retain complete intellectual property rights to their submitted original design concepts, visual presentations, and works themselves (i.e., innovations and modifications made based on Birdfy Official Assets)
  2. Birdfy only owns the ownership and intellectual property of its own Official Assets

Participant's Authorization to Birdfy: By submitting works, participants irrevocably grant Birdfy and its affiliates a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable right and license to:
Usage Rights: Use, reproduce, modify, adapt, create derivative works, and display all or part of the images, videos, text descriptions, and other visual and conceptual content submitted by participants (hereinafter "Submitted Content")
Authorization Purposes:
  1. Broad Promotion and Marketing: Including but not limited to displaying, using, publishing, and distributing Submitted Content on Birdfy's official website, official social media platforms, online and offline advertising, press releases, marketing materials, merchandise displays, award ceremonies, and all official promotional channels related to this DIY activity, Birdfy DIY community, and Birdfy brand
  2. Design Inspiration and Reference: Birdfy has the right to use excellent works' design concepts, functional creativity, and aesthetic appearance as inspiration and reference for its own future product development, accessory production, and commercial sales
  3. Education and Research: For internal training, case analysis, industry exchanges, etc.
Attribution Rights: When using Submitted Content, Birdfy will make reasonable efforts to credit participants' names or IDs but reserves the right not to provide attribution in certain specific scenarios (such as space limitations, format requirements, etc.)
No Additional Payment: Participants explicitly understand and agree that the above authorization is free, and Birdfy need not pay additional fees to participants for using Submitted Content (except for contest rewards)
Design Work Purchase and Collaboration Possibilities: If Birdfy is interested in the specific design (not just images, videos, or concepts) of a contest entry and wishes to obtain its original design files, exclusive usage rights, or commercial production, Birdfy will proactively contact that entry's participant to negotiate a separate purchase agreement or commercial cooperation agreement, clarifying specific terms such as intellectual property transfer, design file handover, and revenue distribution.
Participant's Guarantee: Participants guarantee that their submitted works are original and do not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights (including but not limited to patent rights, copyright, trademark rights, etc.) or legitimate interests such as trade secrets and privacy rights. If any infringement disputes arise, participants must bear full legal responsibility.

SECTION 7 - DISCLAIMER

Birdfy is not responsible for work submission failures, delays, or losses caused by network failures, technical problems, force majeure, or other factors.
Birdfy makes no warranties regarding the safety, functionality, or suitability of contest entries for specific environments.
Participants assume all risks associated with participating in this activity.

SECTION 8 - PRIVACY POLICY

SECTION 9 - OTHER IMPORTANT TERMS

Agreement Modification: Birdfy reserves the right to modify these rules at any time. Modified rules will be published through official channels. We have the right to terminate or modify contest rules at any time.
Legal Jurisdiction: The interpretation and enforcement of this agreement are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States.
Dispute Resolution: Disputes are recommended to be resolved through amicable negotiation. If negotiation fails, they may be submitted to courts with jurisdiction.
Final Decision Authority: Birdfy has final decision authority. Participants who violate terms and rules or attempt fraud will be disqualified.
