It keeps the seed in the feeder. Before I got it I was going through bags of seeds because the birds kept throwing out a lot of the seeds. Now no more waste. And saving money on using less seed.

The seed guard is great. I had ordered the cage and seed guard and my bird were not afraid of it and the seed guard stops a lot of wasted bird seeds . The little birds just hop right in and the larger birds perch and feed. It is amazing to watch everyday! I love my Birdfy and the company is great. My camera is paired to a small tv and I can watch my birds in my kitchen!

I bought the guard to keep the raccoons and deer out of the feeder. One check, and they never came back!

Love the seed guard. No need for wasted seed or mess or clean up.

This saves so much seed from being wasted. Everything is so much neater in that area.

Keeps seed in when the squirrels don't rip it out. 😆 I can't keep the squirrels away!!

The bird seed guard has saved me from birds tossing feed and emptying the feeder in record time!!!!! Very glad I purchased it as well as the solar power- which is wonderful! Always have a charged camera!

Keeps the little wren from shoving the seeds over the edge

This seed guard has worked out so well! The birds love it and the seed rarely is thrown to the ground. We don’t see the chipmunks and rarely see squirrels anymore! I would definitely recommend this addition to the feeder!

The plastic is very light but there were two in the box. I bought this to keep doves from pushing all the food to the ground and it has worked perfectly. Don't get this expecting to keep squirrels out because a squirel would easily destroy this. If only one came in the box I'd give it 3 starts but there were two in the box so, 4 stars. If the plastic were sturdier I'd give it 5 stars since it's works as intended.

I bought these to stop\deter the squirrels from eating all the food. At first, it worked. That is until the squirrels started chewing away at the plastic bars. The guard couldn't stand up to their relentless attack. The only thing that stopped the squirrels, or at least slowed them down, was switching the food to one infused with habanero peppers. Doesn't bother the birds, but the squirrels stay away now. Might I suggest the guard be made of something more squirrel-resistant than the current plastic it is made from?

I added the seed guard about 4 days ago to reduce the amount of seed being scattered out of the feeder. But I’ve learned that birds are basically lazy and will grab seed where it’s the easiest to get at. I feed them sunflower seeds and it’s more work for them to grab seed through the openings on the guard, so now they bypass the Birdfy feeder for the other two. It’s a great product but not recommended when feeding sunflower seeds, unless you have only one feeder.

Works okay when the squirrels don’t steal it. Just lost my second one!

My seed guard has kept the dove from pushing as much seed onto the ground, and it does not restrict the access to the seed for any birds on my feeder. I do sometimes struggle to get it to click into just the right place when i install it or remove it for cleaning.

Agree with other reviewers, seed last much longer and seed not scattered drawing squirrels. Pays for itself in not wasteing seed. Would highly recommend.

Keeps the food in the feeder and not on the ground.

Keep birds from wasting seed

I ordered the Birdfy Bird Seed Guard in hopes that it would help prevent seed from being wasted and it does exactly what it was designed to do. I had a problem with Bluejays getting in my feeder and throwing seed all over the ground. They would empty the feeder in a single day. By installing the Birdfy Bird Seed Guard, it has totally eliminated the problem. I couldn't be more thrilled and in the long run it will save me money on wasted seed. It does keep the larger birds out, but I'm ok with that because they were always chasing the smaller birds away.

As the attached video shows, deer had figured out the feeder was a reliable food source. The grate keeps them from draining the feeder while also keeping the birds from scratching feed onto the ground. Works great!

This was a great addition to the Birdfy feeder. It really works to keep the seeds in the feeder and was super easy to install. I was very surprised to find 2 seed guards in the package.

It has stopped the squirrels visiting but sadly not the pigeons. A definite improvement though.

My bird feeder in action with the seed guard I just purchased. Works great . May look a little reddish from the cayenne pepper I springled to ward off the squirrels. By the way that doesn't really work as good as they say.

My daughters got me this and it’s so much fun to see them up close!! High quality camera. Get one!

This has reduced the loss of bird seed by not allowing the birds to shove the seed out to find that one special seed they want.

The seeds last longer as they are not o the ground or eaten by squirrels and chipmunks! The birds seem to not be bothered by it! I’m happy to have it.

The guard really didn’t work for us. A deer was still able to lick up most of the bird food, and our birds (especially the finches) had a hard time getting the food they wanted. I was really hoping this would work. Now we just place a garbage bag over the feeder each night without the guard, and that has worked to keep the deer away.

The seed guard is a must have. It keeps the seed contained so pesky birds like European Starlings and Common Grackles don’t throw it everywhere. You do need to clean it from time to time if there is a span of wet weather because the seed can clump and stick. But that is a normal part of being a birder. The clips on the side have broken off from time to time which is why they give you a two pack of the guards. It’s def a worthwhile purchase.

Was not helpful in keeing seed protected. Squirrwls were able to remove it as it does not lock onto the feeder.

My hope was that this would keep the squirrel out of the seed, but it keeps ripping it off. It’s great for the birds, but if you’ve got squirrels getting in the feeder you may as well save your money.

Must have! Ive gone from needing to add seed nearly every day to twice a week.

It is great at keeping the seas from going everywhere, but the way it attaches is terrible in terms of keeping squirrels from getting into it. I really wish the design had it strap across so that squirrels could not simply pull off the sea guard. We already went through the first sea guard within the first couple weeks of having it, and had to put on the second one not much later. The squirrels keep pulling them off of the feeder very easily. I would suggest a design that allows it to strap underneath the bottom of the feeder so that squirrels cannot simply pluck it off.

This keeps the sparrows frim scattering the seed out if the feeder

I really like it! The birds are getting used to it.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive 2! It snaps on (and off) easily, which probably saved it from being broken by the squirrels who have discovered my birdfy feeders this year. The green Pro seed screen snapped in half. I was able to snap all pieces back, and have reinforced with packing tape. Seems to be working. And it does the job of keeping seeds from spilling out!

I love it because it keeps the Blue Jays from emptying the feeder in 24 hours BUT the other birds don't seem to be too thrilled with it!
Rosemarie C. 3/5 Verified
It does slow down the squirrels but they are still able to get seed. At least they aren't emptying it in a day anymore.

The Seed Guard has made a big difference. Before, the birds would just sit on it and eat and throw seeds all over the ground. I was filling the feeder every two hours. Now I fill it every two days. Thanks for sending two.
