Once your smart birdhouse is connected to the Birdfy app, you can watch your avian tenants right from your phone! The Birdfy app is free to download and offers live streaming, auto-recorded clips, and instant alerts - all for free!
Ensure your device is fully charged before starting the pairing process. Download the latest version of the Birdfy app from the App Store or Google Play. After downloading, create an account, select 'Add Device' on the home page, choose the product you purchased, and follow the in-app instructions to pair your device. *Please make sure you are using a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
It connects via Wi-Fi, specifically on the 2.4GHz frequency. Why 2.4GHz? Compared to 5GHz, it offers a wider range and stronger signal through walls, making it ideal for outdoor use. This frequency is a common standard for most security cameras and smart devices, ensuring a stable and reliable connection.
The Birdfy Nest Duo operates within a temperature range of 14℉ to 113℉ (-10℃ to 45℃). If the temperature falls outside this range, the camera may not power on or record motion-triggered videos. With an IP66 waterproof rating, the Birdfy Nest Duo is built to withstand rain and snow, ensuring reliable performance in various weather conditions.
Your bird videos and photos are stored in the cloud, so no need to worry about using up your local storage (phew!). Birdfy provides FREE unlimited cloud storage for the duration of the current story. Once the story ends, you’ll have 30 days to download your videos before they are permanently deleted.
With the included 10-foot range camera controller, you can easily manage the power, settings, and even reboot the Birdfy Nest Polygon from a safe distance. No need to disturb your feathered friends—keep their space sacred while ensuring everything runs smoothly with remote access!
Story is a unique Al function available on the Birdfy Nest Duo. lt consists of two parts: bird behavior identification and automatic video clip generation.
Bird Behavior ldentification: Al recognizes bird actions, notifying you of key stages like nesting and hatching, storing them as video clips.
Automatic Video Clip Generation: Post fledging, Al merges and edits clips into engaging breeding process videos.
Note: Story is free, activated automatically with Birdfy Nest Duo.
I was so excited to see a pair of chickadees choose my new nest box...but sadly, the mesh floor is very poorly designed, with holes that are too large. Nesting material kept getting pushed through the holes to below the mesh by the movement of the mom, and they ended up with at least 6 of their eggs going through the holes into the area below along with it, and the others got stuck in the holes so that the mother couldn't cover them completely with her body. So, it was a failed nesting season for the couple and broke my heart to see. I am astonished that the size of the holes in the mesh wasn't vetted prior to being signed off on before manufacture. I would have given zero stars for that alone, and the loss of what could have been a fun experience for me and successful nesting for the birds, but the basic concept with the camera and various entrance sizes is good. How about hiring an expert in birds to sign off on the final design?!
I’m thrilled with the duo cam nest box. To watch the bluebirds in action is amazing! I’ve had brief issues on cloudy days with my camera going offline, but the steps outlined in the Birdfy app easily took care of things. The quality of the nest box is great. Customer Service when I had questions during setup was exceptional. Highly recommend!
I set up this house for my Eastern Bluebirds today (3/18/2026). I installed the Birdfy box to the left of my existing (homemade) box, which has been used by a pair of Bluebirds for the past 2 years to fledge a total of 18 babies. This same pair have clearly claimed this box once again for 2026. I had no idea if my Bluebirds would like the new box, be spooked by it, etc. 30 minutes later I captured this on the Birdfy video cameras.
I think this bird house and cameras are all excellent. My only criticism is the mounting mechanism for the solar panel. The flexible "neck" is incredibly stiff and I can't get things arranged in a way to really position the panel where I want it to be. Not a show stopper at all but disappointing. I'll figure out a workaround
Despite having some issues with my solar panel maintaining an adequate charge, I love this product. It was easy to mount and once I got a power issue resolved it has provided amazing video with both cameras. I have had chickadees and wren visit, but it appears the bluebirds are moving into stay. Customer Service was very helpful with my issue and I recommend this product if you want to give a nesting box a try.
This Birdfeeder is the best in quality, design, and ease of installation. Everything you need to make your birding experience top notch. The set up instructions are clear and easy. The camera quality is very good. I like the grate at the bottom to keep nasty bugs away from the nestlings. Also a side entry door with clear PVC plastic allows you to take a up close view and for easy cleaning. Don't hesitate on this feeder if looking for a special high end house for the birds.
The Birdfy Nest does not disappoint! Within two weeks of setting it up, a pair of Carolina Wrens decided to build a nest in it. It was so fun and interesting watching them prepare the nest and raise their baby. I learned so much while getting to observe them. I am excited to see what next Spring brings!
The first Nest I received would not connect to the wifi, but once I exchanged it for another Nest, it connected quickly. I used the tree mount strap to mount it to a post and I have the solar panel mounted discreetly above it. The solar panel has done a great job of keeping the cameras charged. I have not had any nesting, but I put it up really too late and despite that I have had a couple of birds check it out. I am hopeful for a nest next nesting season. I have had an issue with wasps since no birds are using it, but it is easy to quickly open it up and remove the wasps without taking it down from the post.
Deciding where to put it was my biggest challenge! I have the birdfy bird feeder in my front yard and it’s very popular with the birds. We have several blue and red birds around. After watching the trees to see where the blue birds are hanging out i decided to hang it on my Oak tree in my back yard. It was an easy set up except for the external camera was a little loose but it hasn’t fallen off yet. The solar panel gets a little sun in the morning and it seems to keep the cameras charged at 85% . This was also my worry but it works in the shade fine. I haven’t had any visitors yet and it has been 5 days. I am going to add a bird feed near it to see if it will help. Very sturdy and I am impressed with the inside cameras light and the ability to tell me the temperature and humidity in the bird house. I can’t wait to get my first visitor!!
The Birdfy Nest is super cool. It has both and interior and exterior camera.
It comes 98% assembled, aside from the exterior cam which needs to be repositioned and secured. Mounting is pretty straitforward as well. I tried building mount, and tree mount, before settling on post mount in order to have a location suitable yet close enough for Wi-Fi signal. Note you do need to charge the battery for 10 hours before using.
I did have a couple of hiccups. First none of the printed instructions mentioned that the bamboo should be sealed before I had it mounted. I only discoveerd that when gling the set up on the app. I had to take it down, seal it wait for the sealant to dry then reinstall. Even then nowhere did I see what I saw supposed to use as a sealant. After some googling I decided on Danish Oil. The other issue is that after getting everything set up the firmware would not update. The signal was set but it wouldn't download. I went so far as to take the nest box down, brought it inside and place it close to the router but after 2 hours I gave up and put it back out.
It's already summer so hopefully I still get pair laying a second clutch of the year. Can't wait to watch.
I had built my own bird house in February 2024 out of cedar wood from Home Depot, while it was fun building it, the quality wasn’t the best. After a couple of weeks we had a couple of western bluebirds that checked in and started building their nest in April. They layed 3 eggs, but to my disappointment, they abandoned the nest, not sure why. A couple of things we thought why was 1, the arlo camera I was using inside keeps taking videos with the lights on at 12 midnight every night and 2 our neighbors that just moved in started replacing tiles and I think the noise for at least a week may have bothered them. After 2 weeks, I had removed the eggs and replaced the house with the netvue birdfy with dual cameras. Now this birdhouse I think is bar none, the best of the best I could find online. The build quality and the materials used are top notch. From the packaging alone you can tell how well thought this product was made. The cameras were well placed and the apps used to install are really easy to do, it only took me 5 minutes and were off and running. The only thing that took awhile was charging the batteries. But that was the hardest part. lol.😂. With the different options in mounting, I used the brackets matching what’s already is in the back of the house it was the easiest and most secured way to mount on my 4x4 pole. It’s now been 5 days since and I can’t wait to see another couple of western bluebirds check in. The whole family is eager to see beautiful birds again.
The Birdfy Nest was packaged great and arrived quickly. The setup of the Nest was easy using the enclosed instructions. After charging overnight, I completed setup and installation on a pole in my back yard. The nest is constructed of durable material and the cameras provide beautiful shots of both inside and outside of the Nest. The included solar panel keeps the Nest charged without need for traditional charging methods. Now that setup is complete, I am just waiting for my first visitors to come. Will update this review when the birds come. If you enjoy nature and bird watching the Birdfy products will not disappoint you!
Wonderful nest! Sturdy, well made, and quite pretty! The cameras both have great quality. There is a light inside to make sure you can see everything. The app runs smoothly and updates you on any action. The only thing I need now is birds!
The birdify bird house is amazing! It was very easy to setup, just load the app and follow the instructions, before you know it is up and running. This bird house is a must have for anyone who loves bird watching. It’s built in cameras inside and out make it possible to see the birds as they build their nest and move in and out of the bird house. Apparently the birds like it as much as we do, because within a few day we had a bird building a nest. We are already looking to see where we can add another one.
I recommend it 100%. It allows you to observe things that are usually out of reach. The device works well and over time. The manufacturing is meticulous and well thought out. My birds adopted it from the first year!
I love the Nest. It is so fun to be able to watch the nest building process. The cameras are really clear. I have birds fighting over rights to use it. My cameras have not been able to stay connected without having to go outside and reset it daily. I have worked with customer support at length. I cannot say enough good things about the support. They have walked me through everything and are making sure that I will have a working camera system soon. 5 stars due to customer support for sure.
We were so impressed to see that this birdhouse does everything they said it would. Within 24 hours we had birds checking it out. Now we have a male House Sparrow building a nest with at least 1 female coming by to check on the progress. It’s a lot of fun for our whole family. The one problem is that now we are hooked and are looking into getting more products.
The birdhouse is beautiful and the mounting kit that comes with it gives plenty of options for whatever works for you. Keeping it connected to the WiFi has been a real struggle, the stories don’t work very often, and I just read that we have to wax it - why? I paid a pretty penny for this product - it should be ready to go and working properly! Once the next firmware comes out I hope I can update it and it’ll work fine after that.
Absolutely love this birdhouse!!! The camera quality is great and the app that goes with it is easy to use and user friendly. We are hosting some Eastern Bluebirds currently and can’t wait to continue to watch their progress!
Got the Duo for Christmas present, installed it in April. Had no issues on the initial install. Worked for less than a day, then got dreaded "device is offline" error. Reconnected, then again once or more a day for a week. Wifi shows 64/100 and my phone shows 3 bars at the box. Used all the suggestions from online. Split 2.4 to deducated network, added IP to dedicated IP list, set lease refresh to 2 days. There is no wifi within 400 yards if my house, and all the other 2.4 devices such as Kasa smart devices work fine. After adding the IP address as fixed, things got better, only disconnected every couple days. Then came the gigantic fubar with the Birdfy website. After reinstalling the iphone app, and reinstalling the Duo, it now shows "connection error" instead of it's normal offline error. No amount of deleting, reinstalling, or rebooting with get it to work. I give. Guys, making a wifi connected device bulletproof is not that hard. I now have a basic birdhouse for $300. Edit 6/30. Upgraded to 2 stars, since once the website finally was kinda restored I can now see live view, with some problems. Almost every live view connect attempt results in a "connection failure", but doing a try again connects. About 90% of the time, once actually connected and viewing a live view, the app does not display battery or temp values. Following birdfy advise to "refresh" the app by swiping down does not work. Seems that the server is still very flakey. The app triggers recording when no bird activity present and misses activity I can visually see in progress. The birdfy estimate of battery life seems extremely overestimated, I would guess 3 or 4 cloudy days would drain the battery. The 5 watt solar panel is not powerful enough to quickly recharge the battery if only brief sunshine is available. There are higher rated solar panels on amazon for a reasonable price and I may try one of those. So the unit marginally works but with many shortcomings. Seems to have a premium price for a far less than premium experience.
Bird house is great, But the camera sucks. Missed one whole day of nest making with network errors and app problems. The motion on the camera stinks too. Missed so much. I have to leave it on live feed to see the birds activity. It only picks up the bird once or twice the whole day. When on live feed you can see the bird fly in and out many times. Booo. Missed all the good nesting parts. Wouldn't buy this brand again.
So far it works great. I love that the camera is all internal and permanently attached and the QR code to connect to the wifi being on the outside. Anytime I had the wifi go out with the Polygon, it was a pain having to get the camera out and reconnect.
Had a very hard time to get the camera to connect and stay connected to the BIRDFY APP. Numerous calls and texts with Customer Support - try a different wifi, try a different phone/camera to set, reset and try again. I've spent hours trying to get it to connect and no joy. I would not recommend this box.
I really do love my houses. The only drawbacks are that the wood isn't super weather proof, so sealing with a bird safe sealant is key. And the firmware update this summer got frozen for months, but the company is always fast to reply and get things fixed up. They sent an SD card to update directly.
